2024 Asian Contents & Film Market Platform BUSAN Open for Applications!

Platform BUSAN, a networking event where independent filmmakers from Asia gather in Busan to explore opportunities for solidarity and collaboration for mutual growth will be accepting participant applications from Jul 22 (Mon) to Aug 19 (Mon).

Since 2017, Platform BUSAN has been a vital force in advancing Asian cinema, and it is once again opening its doors for participant recruitment. Now in its sixth year, Platform BUSAN has welcomed 848 participants from 41 countries. It serves as a dynamic venue for emerging professionals in the Korean and Asian film industries to delve into various fields, including production, distribution, and investment. This platform enables new filmmakers to explore collaborative opportunities with rising filmmakers across Asia and engage in case studies of co-production projects, paving the way for future ventures.

At 2023 Platform BUSAN, directors Mohsen Makhmalbaf from Iran and Ogigami Naoko from Japan participated as speakers in the 'Filmmaker's Talk'. The event also featured sessions hosted by global film organizations such as the Visual Industry Promotion Organization (VIPO), the Malaysian Development Lab for Fiction Feature Films (mylab), Ties That Bind (TTB) and European Film Promotion (EFP), sharing valuable insights into the independent film industry across different continents and success stories of international co-productions. Another significant networking event was 'Pitch & Meet,’ where filmmakers and industry insiders introduced and exchanged their projects, fostering meaningful connections and collaborations.

2024 Platform BUSAN is expected to provide valuable networking opportunities for emerging Asian filmmakers through a variety of programs, including networking sessions, masterclasses, panel talks, and seminars. Participant applications for 2024 Platform BUSAN will be accepted from Jul 22 (Mon) to Aug 19 (Mon). Emerging filmmakers in Asia and Korea, who have played a major role in the production of at least one short film or up to two feature films, are eligible to apply. All programs will be conducted in English to facilitate the exchange among Asian filmmakers.
