2026 BIFF Everywhere Presents

Filmmaking Project

The 31st Busan International Film Festival’s BIFF Everywhere presents ‘Filmmaking Project’, inviting local residents to gain hands-on filmmaking experience and bring stories from Busan and its neighboring communities to the big screen. BIFF Everywhere is a community-friendly festival that expands the festival experience beyond its central hub in Haeundae, making cinema part of everyday life.

Seven Narrative Short Films &

Three Behind-the-Scenes Documentaries

Official Screening at Community BIFF 2026

‘Filmmaking Project’ offers people with no prior filmmaking experience the chance to become actors and crew members, actively participating in every stage of production—from screenplays and pre-production to acting, cinematography, and editing. Professional filmmakers active in the region will serve as mentors, offering hands-on guidance and support throughout the sessions.

The program, which brings community members together to turn their own experiences and local stories into films, was launched in 2021 under the name ‘Village Filmmaking’ and ran under that title for the past five years. Rebranded this year as ‘Filmmaking Project,’ the initiative has expanded its scope beyond Busan to neighboring Ulsan and South Gyeongsang Province. Three teams with diverse backgrounds are joining the project: ‘GomMasil’ (supported by the Yangsan Regional Revitalization Support Center); ‘Theater Arts Experiment Group CHO’ (a theater troupe of dynamic young artists); and 'Save the Children' (dedicated to hearing young voices). Together, they are producing three narrative short films and one behind-the-scenes documentary capturing their creative journey.

Organized in collaboration with the Busan Cinema Center and UNESCO Creative City of Film Busan, three teams —‘Our Neighborhood Secret Club,’ ‘Busan Brain Lesion Welfare Center’, and ‘Gwangan 301’—are producing three short films and one behind-the-scenes documentary. Furthermore, a joint partnership between the Sang-li Community Welfare Center and the Pusan National University Film Institute will contribute an additional short film and a behind-the-scenes documentary.

These 10 completed films will be officially screened at Community BIFF on October 8 (Thu). Community BIFF will take place in Nampo-dong from October 8 (Thu) to October 11 (Sun). BIFF Everywhere will kick off early on October 3 (Sat) and run through October 15 (Thu), transforming the Busan Cinema Center and iconic locations throughout Busan and its neighboring cities into open-air cinematic venues.
